Home

We seek to balance ingredients of a variety of early childhoold education philosophies into an exemplary program.  We believe that children need many opportunities to play, experience, explore, discover and practice in a safe, child-centered environment.  We respect the child's need for both nurturing and independence, quiet and active play, time alone and in group endeavors.  We aim to meed these needs by providing opportunities for the children to participate in a variety of activities.

on a daily basis, there are structured events such as listening to stories, group singing, cooperative games or dramatic activities during "circle time" and arts/crafts, or science projects.  There is also time for a choice of child-initiated indoor and outdoor activities including materials for tactile and sensory explorations, puzzles, games, dramatic play, water play, and riding tricycles.

Through their interactions with each other, children develop the social skills that enable them to function well in a group setting.  THe children develop listening and sharing skills, respect for each other and learn to solve conflicts, with teacher guidance.  In addition, they learn to follow prescribed routines and acceptable modes of behavior during structured activities such as circle time, meals and rest period.

Infants

Our infant educators know that more than anything else, your little one needs to be loved.  Because your child's caregiver knows how difficult it is for you to entrust your baby to anyone else, we make it a priority to build a strong relationship with you.  She will spend time with you everyday when you bring your baby to the classroom and when you pick him up.  She will write down what your baby ate, when he slept, and other things you need to know in his Infant Daily Report.  In addition to plenty of cuddling, our infants participate in floor activities to promote rolling, crawling, and walking development.

Toddlers

Youprobably already know that your toddler is a little explorer!  She has discovered the freedom that learning to walk brings and has set out to see how her world works.  Your child's caregiver knows that warm, nurturing interactions with your toddler is essential to healthy self-esteem and to gaining the confidence  to try new things.  She will talk to your child on her eye level, hug her, and read to her.  Your child's caregiver understands your child's love of repetition and never tires of singing her favorite song or reading her favorite book over and over again.

Your toddler's caregiver will share her day with you, both verbally and on her Toddler Daily Report where she records what she ate, when she slept, and other things you need to know.

In language development, teachers will help the toddlers expand their vocabulary by speaking to them frequently, using flashcards, and helping them articulate simple sentences or questions.  Toddlers will begin participating willingly with their friends as they learn and develop their social skills.

Two's and Three's

Your child is now showing a strong desire to do things independently.  He helps dress himself, feed himself, and wants to help you at home.  He is becoming more social and emjoys playing with other children.  His educator understands his emerging independence and offers both small group and individual activities to foster his skills in all areas of growth and development - language and literacy, intellectual, physical, and social/emotional.

Your child will enjoy reading books, working on puzzles, and building structures with blocks.  He will explore textures and learn math concepts.  Home Center provides him the opportunity for pretend play, to practice language skills, and to understand his feelings and those of others.

We also introduce a theme-based curriculum.  This program promotes age appropriate activities that stimulate language, creative movement, music, and self help skills.  At the end of each week, parents are encouraged to pick up their child's "activity bag".  Within the bag, you can see your child's work during the week.  As they approach the higher end of this age bracket, the work will start to focus on writing skills.

Preschoolers

Every child learns and develops his or her skills through meaningful experiences.  The A Beka curriculum is used to accelerate each child's development.  Children go through a process of learning and strengthening their basic skills in several specific areas.  They engage in fun activities that help to strengthen their finger muscles in order to begin writing.  They are taught to write their first and last names.  Children also learn to recognize the letter sounds in preparation to learn how to blend these into words.  As they progress in these recognition skills, they learn to recognize short and long vowel sounds and are encouraged to begin reading simple books.

Children learn their numbers using objects and learn to distinguish between objects by size and shape.  In Science, students develop their understanding of the world through focused natural activities such as growing plants and studying insects.  Children are exposed to Spanish through upbeat songs, general greetings, and names of common objects.

Emphasis is placed on developing confidence through opportunities to speak or perform in front of an audience.  Good manners and habits are also promoted on a daily basis.

School Age Program

During the school year, we offer morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up from several schools.  In the mornings, we can drop your child off at Walzem Elementary, Windcrest Elementary, Wilshire Elementary, and East Terrell Hills Elementary schools.  In the afternoons, we pick up at the following:  Camelot, East Terrell Hills, Walzem, Serna, Wishire, and Windrest Elementary schools.

During the school year, once the children are picked up in the afternoons, they are given a nutritious snack, and then time to do their homework,  After their homework is complete, they have several activities that will keep theim busy until the end of the day.

During the summer time as well as other extended vacations, we offer activity camps for the children.  We send them on 2-3 field trips per week and have activities planned for the other days of the week.
